Maybe. Who knows...

I actually seriously doubt it is at this point. Death Metal is straight up impossible to keep the beat on

Source now available at https://github.com/h00701350103/necro_score_bot
I'd love feature requests, bug reports and pull requests. Commenting the code properly is a feature request atm.

There is currently a bug where Cadence runs aren't recorded, working on that one.

DJC beat Bolt 1-1 Shrine of Rhythm, so, it's possible.

I remember him mentioning that it's easier to keep the beat with shrine of rhythm than without though. Not sure what the difference would be in Death Metal, that is, with vs. without shrine of rhythm (and with perma-dagger).

New version of @necro_score_bot running. Deathless boards only report top-5 and board names are reformatted.
Cadence runs are also recorded since a few days.

May I humbly request a sticky on this thread? :headspin

I'd love feedback on a new message format, here are some examples:

Rat3485 got rank 9 on All-Chars Score with 7593 points #necrodancer
Knight Lycaon on rank 2 of Aria Score, got 8432 points #necrodancer
Gunner got rank 1 on Bard Deathless with 14 wins, dying on 3-1 #necrodancer
Zarkal got rank 7 on Melody Score with 5645 points #necrodancer
Jack of Games on rank 4 of Bolt Speed got the time 3:21.567 #necrodancer
petsgomoo got rank 8 on Dorian Speed with the time 2:50.269 #necrodancer
lse got rank 5 on Melody Speed with the time 3:21.297 #necrodancer
Elad Difficult got rank 8 on Melody Speed with the time 3:29.460 #necrodancer

Alternative one for keeping same score:
Jack of Games, rank 4 on Bolt Speed, got the time 3:21.567 #necrodancer

Current one is
lse rose to rank 5 with time 3:21.297 on Melody Speed #necrodancer
Knight Lycaon still on rank 2 but now with score 8432 on Aria Score #necrodancer
Gunner rose to rank 1 with score 14-3-1 on Bard Deathless #necrodancer

I think it's really hard to come up with and decide on a short and intuitive format, so if you got any other variants please share!

I like...

[player] now [N]th in [category] with [score]
or
[player] still [N]th in [category] with new [score/time/streak] of [score]

You'd have to set special format for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc, but this is the phrasing that looks most concise and natural to me.

"got rank [N]" or "on rank [N]" sounds a bit awkward, but it's not bad if you prefer that wording.

Great work on the score bot by the way!

Thanks! I prefer nothing yet, I refrain from deciding until I have all options lying on the table.

Putting your format into concrete examples
Gunner now 1st in Bard Deathless with 14 wins, dying on 3-1 #necrodancer
Zarkal now rank 7 in Melody Score with 5645 points #necrodancer
Jack of Games still 4th in Bolt Speed with new time of 3:21.567 #necrodancer
Gunner still 1st in Bard Deathless with new streak of 14 wins, dying on 3-1 #necrodancer

Few questions:
You sure about 'in [category]' vs 'on [category]' ?
3rd example, 'new time of' vs only 'new time' ?
4th example, 'new streak of' vs 'a new streak of'? Having 'a' in front of all 'new streak'/'new time'/'new score' ?

Yes, I prefer "in". How I would phrase it, you place "in" a category, and you place "on" a leader board. Kinda depends on what you want to say.

h11471392085 wrote:3rd example, 'new time of' vs only 'new time' ?

I agree with fewer connecting words, more like a newspaper headline is better. Eliminate that "of".

h11471392085 wrote:4th example, 'new streak of' vs 'a new streak of'? Having 'a' in front of all 'new streak'/'new time'/'new score' ?

As per the previous answer, I prefer fewer words. The extra 'a' is unnecessary.

After a long discussion with friend, taking your comments into consideration, this is where I'm at now

jakkdl claims rank 1 in Dove Speed with 1:12
jakkdl, 1st in Dove Speed, improves time to 1:12

jakkdl claims rank 1 in Dove Score with 173928 gold
jakkdl, 1st in Dove Score, improves to 123498 gold

jakkdl claims rank 1 in Dove Deathless with 8 wins, dying on 1-1
jakkdl, 1st in Dove Deathless, improves streak to 8 wins, dying on 1-1

Comments more than welcome!

EDIT: Lots of discussion on IRC with jackofgames and duneaught made me change some.
