Crypt Code of Conduct

Translations:

The NecroDancer has claimed many hearts for his Crypt. As more succumb to his wiles, there’s a good chance you’ll meet others on your dungeon delving adventures. To ensure that everyone has the best disco descent possible, we ask all those who roam the Crypt of the NecroDancer to agree to this Code of Conduct, which is supplementary to our Terms of Use.

THE CRYPT CODIFIED

As a general rule, ask yourself “What Would the NecroDancer Do”… and then don’t do that.

1. Treat those around you with respect, kindness, and patience.

The Crypt is dangerous enough as it is without us turning on one another! Remember that you are interacting with real people. Kindness is an active and regular practice we must choose daily, even when we’re feeling impatient.

If you are being harassed, we encourage you to do your best not to escalate the situation, disengage from the harasser, and make use of the Block Player feature and available in-game reporting tools. If you see someone being harassed by another user, lend your voice to the victim, and report the harasser as well.

For more urgent requests or anything that may need a direct response, you may also contact us at [email protected]. Please keep in mind that our team’s work hours are generally 9AM – 5PM PST on Monday – Thursday.

2. Be welcoming and inclusive to all.

Despite being an overall jerk, at the very least the NecroDancer doesn’t discriminate against who can and cannot join his legions. We have zero tolerance for exclusionary behaviour and derogatory comments based on someone’s identity, be it race, gender, sexual orientation, culture, religion, or physical or mental abilities. Period.

3. Keep the Crypt clean!

We already have to deal with all of the NecroDancer’s traps and hazards littering the Crypt. Please be mindful of the content you share and create, and ask yourself if it might be offensive to others. This includes, but is not limited to, usernames, lobby names, custom levels, chats etc.

Content should be appropriate for all ages, so please behave appropriately. Do not distribute lewd, plagiarized or otherwise offensive or illegal content. Sexual suggestions, threats of violence and other forms of misconduct will not be tolerated and will result in removal or permanent banning.

For more information specifically about modded content, please see our Mod Policy.

4. Keep things fair, and play the game as it was meant to be played.

Even the NecroDancer had to earn his place as Chief Baddie; you need to earn your spot too. Please do not use exploits, cheats, undocumented features, design errors, bugs or problems to get a leg up on others or on the leaderboards as it ruins the experience for everyone. Bugged scores are automatically flagged and will be removed from leaderboards.

If you come across a bug or exploit, please let us know using the in-game bug reporter.

5. Be careful where you share your personal information.

The NecroDancer has stolen your heart – don’t let anyone take anything else from you! When playing any online game, always remember to practice basic internet safety. Beware of sharing any personal information like your real name, where you live, your birthday, phone numbers, emails, social media handles, passwords, etc.

Do not click on any suspicious links, or download any suspicious files in game, or in other online spaces like Discord. If you are ever unsure of a message you have received, please reach out to a moderator of said space if available, or email us at [email protected]

Don’t be a Zone 2 clone! Please do not impersonate developers, streamers, celebrities etc. No one at Brace Yourself Games or Vortex Buffer will ever ask you for your password or personal information in-game.

6. Don’t do anything illegal.

…Is necromancy a crime? Putting the antics of undead liches aside, please know that we take your safety and the safety of others very seriously.

To that end, please do not participate in or encourage illegal, harmful or dangerous activities in our games like: doxxing, hacking, threats of physical violence, extremist rhetoric, or producing, promoting, or otherwise engaging in serious inappropriate content.

If you see someone engaging in harmful or illegal activity, please report it using the in-game reporter. If at any point you are afraid for your safety or the safety of someone in-game, please contact emergency services in your region. You can find an appropriate helpline at Lifeline International.

Additionally, there are many wonderful resources like 7 Cups that can connect you globally with caring listeners for free, and offer affordable online therapy. Even if you don’t feel ready to talk with someone yet, 7 Cups also has forums with questions and answers across a broad range of tough topics that may be a good place to start.

We encourage you to take the time to review our Terms of Use.

UNCRYPTIC CONSEQUENCES

If we believe you have violated any of this Code, our Terms of Use, or any of the rules stated within other public forums like Discord, we may place restrictions on your account and remove your access to the game temporarily or permanently. Making false reports just to get someone banned can lead to the same.
